Firm Profile

Our firm handles legal matters in the following practice areas:  Family Law, Divorce, Custody, Criminal Litigation, Domestic Violence, Adoption, Serious Personal Injury, Civil Litigation,  Motor Vehicle Law, Wills, Estates, and Residential Real Estate.

Mr. Sherman, a sole practitioner assisted by a dedicated and experienced staff, believes that  the combination experience, compassion, determination and hard work that he offers are all critical ingredients of successful litigation, and the efficient and expeditious resolution of his clients' legal issues.  He appreciates the importance of easing the anxiety of his clients in difficult and stressful circumstances, especially in a courtroom settiing.    Mr. Sherman has practiced law in Salem County and the surrounding areas for more than 30 years.  A graduate of the University of Delaware and Rutgers School of Law-Camden, he has extensive trial experience in family law, criminal law, and personal injury.  He is also well versed in the general practice of law including drafting of wills and other legal documents, estate work, residential real estate transactions, and general civil litigation.

During his career, Mr. Sherman has tried many cases in the Superior Courts and Municipal Courts in Salem County and elsewhere throughout South Jersey.  His Superior Court trials have included complex family law matters, such as divorce and custody, as well as many criminal and personal injury jury trials.  His Municipal Court trials typically involve serous traffic offenses which carry the potential for extended loss of driving privileges.

Mr. Sherman believes that effective personal communication  with his clients and attention to detail is critical.  As a sole practitioner, his clients receive one on one legal services from him directly, to ensure that their needs are understood and effectively addressed.   He works as much and as hard as is necessary to assure the best possible result for every client in every case.  He appreciates the importance of making himself readily available to his clients, and  keeping them fully informed at all times as to the progress of their cases.    Mr. Sherman's staff (which includes at all times one or more paralegal assistants),  is also highly experienced and professional, eager to assist in every possible manner.

Our firm takes advantage of technology by integrating state-of -the-art legal software and internet-based research technology into the practice of law, including mobile access.  This technology provides us with the resources to give our clients the best possible services while always maintaining a personal touch.  Mr. Sherman is a strong advocate of Continuing Legal Education in order to stay current  in his fields of practice.  He has developed an extensive personal and professional network in the region through his various volunteer endeavors.  He  has served as a Trustee of the Board of Directors of Salem County Community College, is currently Chairman of the Salem County Judicial and Prosecutorial Action Committee (which screens the appointment of local judicial and prosecutorial candidates nominated to serve by the Governor) and is currently vice-president of the Salem County Bar Association, to be elevated to the Presidency in May, 2010 ( a position he has held on two prior occasions).   Mr. Sherman has also been an annual guest lecturer at Widener Law School.  He is an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and American Trial Lawyers Association.
